"You're doing it too early" - hooray for advice in training mode, even if all I can make out is ä½ SPOD I could do in the arcade, it's jeffry's Toe Kick of Doom (Toe Kick - Splash Mountain) that I never got, until VF4, that is. (Still need springier buttons for the knee, I think, PITA - VF2 arcade style buttons - in VF2 I could do it at will, I still struggle on VF4) I hadn't played VF in months, and when I picked up the controller for the first time on the demo unit of VF4 I did *several* SPODs spontaneously. I'd wager VF4 has better graphics, but I don't know about gameplay. Personally, I really enjoy TTT because it has a lot of fun, unique characters. I can paste the compAI in CvS2, but I'm not near the skill level of the people that fight regularly in the arcade. besides which, the only way to really get GOOD at a fighting game is to have a high level of competition. MvC2 was fun while unlocking characters, but that's pretty one-dimensional. The only fighter that has really excelled in that department is Soul Calibur. IMO, the downside to VF is the lack of a rich single player experience. As stated earlier, this is why you'll likely get more respect playing a good game of VF in Japan than any other 3d fighter.

The level of skill required to really master the VF series is much higher than any other (questionable, but no one's gonna say VF is easy at any rate), thus the VF series is for people who really want a good fighting game (fighting for the sake of fighting). Many players of the VF series (IME) view other 3d fighting games as. The Training Mode where you can teach your fighters new moves and such is a welcome addition, but not the main attraction. VF is a deep, deep fighting engine, but maybe a little too deep for the casual player. It's probably got the most impressive graphics out of the three as well. Not to put down any of the series, but with the number of characters in Tekken Tag and the depth of the fighting engine (if you really care to get into it) it offers the most bang for the buck.ĭoA is much more a smasher's game, but the depth of the fighting engine is knowing your mixups and throwing off your opponent's timing so they can't counter you easily. Just give two combat styles (ala Fighters Megamix) for those who prefer the different takes on combat.) Make this f'n game already! Capcom and SNK made their crossover for hell's sake.

However, the VF paradigm is quite a bit different from that of other games like Tekken or DoA (DoA's paradigm being "big hooters" the way MK had blood) DoA is a good party game for people who don't really play so much, but if you're looking for a game that you can play alone and learn in great depth, VF4 is it.
